Creating a memorable experience for an original student play for sold-out performances.

I photographed the cast and production team to establish a cohesive aesthetic for the promotional materials.

The Social Media Plan

The first posts on the account (@nu.saidoutloud) highlighted the cast and the production team.

The week before the event, I increased the frequency of story posts through Instagram takeovers, which aided in a higher turnout the day of the event.

I had the graphic designer create posters to distribute throughout campus two weeks before the show date, giving people adequate time to make plans to attend.

To raise awareness, I put a large vinyl banner in a high-traffic area starting five days before the first show.

Personal Takeaways

Before taking on this role of Marketing Director, the only theatre project I was involved in was the Freshman Musical the previous quarter. Using what I learned about creating awareness and engagment from that past experience, I applied similar strategies using what I know about college students.

Not only was I able to gain a holistic perspective on what it takes to prepare for an original student play, I could apply my own skills to help gain traction and produce engaged audiences.
